At Mahina Therapy PLLC, we believe that therapy is inherently political. The work we do with clients and within the mental health community cannot be separated from the social, cultural, and systemic contexts that shape our lives. We stand in solidarity with communities facing oppression and systemic harm, including the LGBTQQIP2SA community, Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, and those experiencing systemic genocide, including Palestinian and Congolese people. We affirm the principles of the Black Lives Matter movement and are committed to dismantling racism, transphobia, fatphobia, and other forms of oppression in all aspects of our work.
We dedicate ourselves to continuous learning and growth: to being anti-racist, trans-affirming, sex- and kink-affirming, and aligned with the Fat Liberation and Health at Every Size (HAES) movements. As a QTBIPOC-owned practice, our politics are inseparable from our mission: creating healing spaces that center, honor, and uplift those who have been systemically marginalized, excluded, or harmed.
Mahina Therapy PLLC is dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed mental health care to communities who have historically been marginalized and under-served by traditional mental health systems. We offer outpatient therapy, ADHD and Autism evaluations, and gender-affirming care, centering the unique needs and experiences of neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC clients. Our mission is to create healing spaces where all clients are seen, respected, and supported in their identities, and where access to affirming, high-quality care is both a right and a reality.
Mahina Therapy PLLC envisions a world where all gender-diverse people, Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color have equitable access to high-quality mental health care. We strive for a model of care that honors cultural heritage, lived experience, and identity - without requiring assimilation to white supremacy’s standards of mental wellness. Our vision is a future in which therapy services are affirming, culturally grounded, and accessible, empowering communities to heal, thrive, and be seen on their own terms.
At Mahina Therapy PLLC, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating mental health services and evaluations that are affirming, accessible, and culturally responsive for all clients - especially gender-diverse people, Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color, and neurodivergent communities.
We honor each person’s cultural heritage, identity, and lived experience, ensuring that care is free from the pressures to conform to white-centered norms of mental wellness. Our goal is to cultivate spaces where every client feels seen, respected, and empowered to engage in healing on their own terms. Inclusivity is not just a principle - it is an active practice guiding our approach to therapy, evaluations, and community care.
