Our work to dismantle systems of oppression takes place both inside and outside of therapy sessions, and you can find more information on the activism that Mahina Therapy PLLC is aligned with below and on our Mission + Vision page.

For our part in occupying land that does not belong to us or our people, we donate a part of our monthly profits to the Potlatch Fund.
The Potlatch Fund is "a Native-led nonprofit organization that provides grants and leadership development to Tribal Nations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Potlatch Fund works to promote diversity and address inequality by educating foundations about Tribal communities, introducing them to Native nonprofits, and holding funder briefings specific to Indian Country. Since 2005, Potlatch Fund has granted more than $5.5 million to Native individuals and nonprofits."

Mahina Therapy believes that our work as healers are inherently political and cannot be separated from our work as activists. We cannot be silent in the face of a genocide and therefore we are donating a part of our monthly profits to families in need in Gaza. Below is the family that we are currently sponsoring, as well as links to additional information for those wanting to learn more. We are also including links to information on what is happening in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan, where people are also facing the threat of genocide.
As Mahina Therapy was founded by a member of the BIPOC community, it is our responsibility to act in solidarity with fellow POC and to move towards collective liberation. As part of those efforts, we donate a part of our monthly profits to the Black Lives Matter movement.

In order to continue supporting the health and wellbeing of our community in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, a majority of Mahina Therapy sessions will remain virtual.
For those clients whose providers at Mahina Therapy do see in person, the following policies will be in effect:
Masking is optional for most office functions unless otherwise mandated by public health authorities.
Masks are required when requested by an immunocompromised or disabled staff member, intern, or client during any shared in-person interaction.
High-quality masks (e.g., KN95/N95) will be made available in the office.
Staff must honor masking requests respectfully and without question.
HEPA air purifiers are present in therapy rooms and shared spaces and will be maintained regularly.
Natural ventilation (open windows/doors) will be used when possible to improve air circulation.
Immunocompromised or disabled employees or interns may request remote work, staggered shifts, or telehealth-only roles when appropriate and feasible.
Immunocompromised or disabled clients may request telehealth or low-traffic scheduling accommodations.
These accommodations reflect our belief that accessibility is a right, not a burden.
Mahina Therapy will monitor local transmission trends and implement enhanced protocols during surges (e.g., universal masking, reduced in-person services).
Immunocompromised individuals may request additional safety measures even when community transmission is low and regardless of general office policy.
Staff and interns may submit accommodation requests to leadership, which will be reviewed confidentially and in accordance with the ADA.
Examples include workspace adjustments, modified duties, and schedule changes.
All employees are expected to honor each person’s need for safety and autonomy around health precautions.
Disrespect, dismissal, or discriminatory behavior toward disabled, immunocompromised, or health-conscious individuals will not be tolerated.
