Mahina means moon in Hawaiian - a symbol of rhythm, wisdom, and guidance. In Hawaiian culture, we move in relationship with the moon’s cycles, trusting its phases to teach us about timing, reflection, rest, and renewal.
Mahina Therapy PLLC was founded by Kaylee Torres with a clear intention: to offer therapy that resists the Western, colonial frameworks that have shaped mental health care. Kaylee’s work is rooted in decolonization, cultural reclamation, and honoring Indigenous ways of knowing. By centering relationship, community, and cultural story, they aim to create a therapeutic space where clients’ identities are not only respected, but deeply valued.
As Mahina Therapy expands into a group practice, Kaylee is committed to honoring the cultures and lineages of every clinician on the team - creating a community where both clients and providers can show up fully and feel supported in their healing journeys.
We are welcoming our new cohort of student interns in May 2026!
Mahina Therapy PLLC will be closed from December 20th through January 3rd for our annual Winter Closure!
This intentional pause supports clinician sustainability, rest, and burnout prevention - values that guide how we care for our community and ourselves.
During this time:
Our administrative team will not be monitoring phones or email.
Clinicians will not be available for sessions or consultation.
All messages will receive responses after we return on January 4th.
If you are a current client and are experiencing a mental health emergency during the closure, please contact 911, reach out to the Regional Crisis Line at 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.
Thank you for your understanding and for supporting a model of care grounded in sustainability and wellbeing!
